West Pokot graduates 205 Police Reservists to bolster security in North Rift

Two hundred and five National Police Reservists in West Pokot graduated to join in combating security threats in the region.

The Director of National Police Operations, Ranson Loimodooni, said the graduates would join the National Police Service and other multi-agency security teams deployed in the ongoing security operation dubbed Operation Maliza Uhalifu in the North Rift Region.

Speaking on behalf of the Deputy Inspector General of Police, Douglas Kanja, the Director urged the police reservists to embrace teamwork and maintain a high level of discipline and integrity as they discharge their duties to serve the nation.

The pass-out parade was held at Chetsa Teachers Training College in West Pokot Central. West Pokot Governor Simon Kachapin, who spoke during the pass-out ceremony, expressed confidence that the trained police reservists would help reduce the prevailing insecurity in the region. "They have no excuse for non-performance as they have been trained by the most experienced trainers from the General Service Unit on different skills and areas that include human right policy, handling criminal activities, and first aid skills," said Kachapin.

Kachapin called for collaborative efforts between the public and the National Police Reservists to enhance curbing insecurity. He urged them to be vigilant and steadfast in responding to insecurity incidents in the region.

Member of Parliament for Sigor Constituency, Peter Lochakapong, appreciated the National Government for obliging the request from local leaders to recruit the police reservists. He also expressed hope that the National Police Reservist (NPR) would help end cases of insecurity along the neighboring counties. Kenya National Human Rights Commissioner Dr. Raymond Nyeris and the County security committee led by the West Pokot county commissioner, Apollo Okello, also attended the ceremony.
